YouTube Re-Launch

Hi Reader,I was recently gifted with the opportunity to review a bajillion nature landscape photos that I've taken since 2023. Over the past few months, I've shared some of my favorites to the RRVWMRR Instagram profile. The images capture many of the hikes and drives and adventures I've been on throughout my third and fourth years of living on the road. Then just this week, I decided to jump head-first into my library of video footage from this same time period. It felt really good to crawl...

You are much appreciated!

Hi Reader,Just the other night, I closed my eyes and fell asleep while parked in a wide open expanse of high desert country. The wind outside whirled and whistled around the trailer. Inside, I felt a complete stillness from gratitude for another few days of quietude and sandy hiking trails. Then last night, I closed my eyes and fell asleep while parked amidst a forest of tall evergreen trees hundreds of miles away from the desert. It was so very silent outside that there was absolutely...

Mint Condition

Hi Reader,This past spring, I helped some dear friends ready their yard for new landscaping. Among some plants they no longer wanted was a huge rootball of mint. I love mint. The bright scent. The shiny green leaves. The hardiness. I wanted to see if it would grow with me on the road, so they sent me off with a huge, generous pail of it. Over the summer, I placed it outside with plenty of sunlight, regular watering, and drainage. But it slowly began to die off. The leaves turned brown. The...

I swore like a sailor.

Hi Reader,I wear flip-flops and shorts 99% of the time. I wear baseball caps backwards. I'm comfortable eating with my hands. I blow my nose in public. I consider myself to be pretty casual. But one thing I tend not to do is use profanity. I don't have any qualms with it. I just don't use it...Well, unless I lose my footing on some rocks and start sliding down a steep hill, or I fall into a freezing cold river in the dark. Even then, I feel like I usually just tuck and roll, and bail quietly....

2025 Coaching Schedule Update

Hi Reader,Hopefully, you've made the time to roll through some dirt and sniff dry tree bark this summer! There's still plenty of time and light and warmth to get outdoors. Make a break for it now, before diving head-first into your fall season pursuits. In taking the past couple of months off from coaching sessions, writing, and research, I've been able to engage in other activities and work that renewed my appreciation for water, hats, tools, elbow grease, and good old-fashioned know-how...

What kind of person would you be?

Hi Reader,First off, how are you doing today? Riding high? Rock bottom? Extreme meh? I hear ya! Go ahead and give yourself a shoulder-grippy for getting to where you are right now. Even if you're having the best of days, it never, ever hurts to acknowledge your efforts and remind yourself how far you've come. Good job! Maybe this is a good time to bring up the impending zombie apocalypse!...In our imaginations, of course. Our routines might get stale, and every day can start to feel the same,...

Enough-ing vs. Binge-ing

Hi Reader,Have you looked-up your favorite musicians on streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music lately? With unlimited everything available these days, there can be endless music to consume, and at any time and for however long you desire. As you search, you will inevitably come across the coveted "Deluxe" versions of the best albums. Then you'll find the music was "Remastered" in 2010 with an additional "Anniversary" edition released even more recently. Along with the arguably...

In the Arena

Hi Reader,There are so many people out there right now who are taking on big things. Some are stepping onto a stage to play a musical instrument in front of a live audience for the very first time, while others might be learning their first chords or picking out their first axe at the music store. Some are leaving their workplaces, readying themselves to go home to an empty nest for the first time in 20 years, while others are opening a door to a house that was full of light and laughter...

Regret

Hi Reader,I have regrets. I regret mixing wasabi with cocoa, thinking they'd make a tasty flavor pairing for cookies.I regret not heeding my friend's warning about wearing shorts and flip-flops to weed-whack tall, wet grass.I regret not standing up for myself in second grade when a football field full of kids made fun of me for looking up to Danny White.I regret not keeping in touch with my college journalism professor Dr. Flynn, who was instrumental in motivating me to graduate instead of...

"I don't understand you."

Hi Reader,Wherever you are right this second, and whatever you are doing, my hope for you is that you are feeling positive about your life's trajectory, and that you are taking good care of your self on all levels. In whatever ways you are approaching your endeavors, may they be true to your self. In my opinion, it'd also be super-cool if everyone could feel understood by those in their closest circles, and experience no-strings-even-remotely-attached support in all undertakings. Love without...
